Brian C. Smith

Brian Smith, EVP of Business Development of Healthcare.com, joins with over 27 years of executive experience in healthcare information and systems. Prior to joining Healthcare.com, Mr. Smith was SVP of Enclarity, a venture-backed, ASP-delivered solution for the healthcare industry to systematically automate the standardization, accuracy and augmentation of provider demographic data.

 

Mr. Smith has extensive healthcare experience which includes Ingenix, a technology subsidiary of United Health Group, where he focused on developing business relationships with many of the largest national health plans and payers in the United States. Previous to Ingenix, Mr. Smith co-founded Qmedtrix Systems (1996-2002), a privately-held specialty software company focused on workers compensation physician bill review. He was a founding shareholder of HealthNet Management Holdings (now HealthNet, Inc.), where he served as VP of Network Development, Managing Director of the HealthNet Venture Group and VP, Sales and Marketing. Previous to HealthNet, Brian had senior sales and marketing postions with the Centinela Hospital in Inglewood, CA and HealthCare USA’s (NYSE:HCU) General Med HMO subsidiary in Southern California.


Alan M. Engler, MD, FACS

Alan M. Engler, MD, FACS, is a board-certified plastic surgeon. Dr. Engler is currently Clinical Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.


Dr. Engler has been named among "The World's Most Famous Aesthetic Surgeons," (Aesthetic Surgery, TASCHEN Books), "Best Doctors in New York" (New York Magazine) and "Best New York Metro Area Doctors" (Castle Connolly Medical).


He is the author of fours books: EyesScapes - Plastic Surgery of the Eyelids, BodySculpture - Plastic Surgery of the Body for Men and Women, Restylane, and The Slim Book of Liposuction.


Dr. Engler has appeared on numerous radio and television shows, and has received a U.S. Patent (D458, 680) for the Engler Lighted Retractor, a surgical instrument he designed.


Dr. Engler's professional affiliations include the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS), the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), and the American College of Surgeons (ACS). He is a graduate of Yale University and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University.


Jeffrey L. Horstmyer, MD

Jeffrey L. Horstmyer, MD, is board certified neurologist based in Miami, FL, where he serves as Chief of the Division of Neurology at Mercy Hospital.


Dr. Horstmyer has held a number of leadership positions in the medical and academic community in Miami, including as a board member for Florida International University, chairman of Florida International University Council of 100, founding member of the Florida International University Medical School Committee, chairman of the Emergency Room Committee at Health South Doctors Hospital, and member of the Professional Advisory Committee of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's South Florida Chapter.


Dr. Horstmyer is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Neurology and a member of the American Association of Electro-diagnosis Medicine, American Association for the Advancement of Science, New York Academy of Science, Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society, and American Epilepsy Society.


He has received the Volunteer Award from the Penalver Clinic, and has been recognized for providing free neurological care to the homeless and indigent patients at Camillus House and San Juan Bosco Clinic.


He was honored with the National Multiple Sclerosis Leadership Award and was voted one of South Florida's top doctors in Miami Metro magazine. Dr. Horstmyer is a graduate of Emory University and of the University of Miami School of Medicine.


Mike Rosen, MD

Mike Rosen, MD, practiced internal medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, from 1992-1997, appearing on "Good Day Atlanta" on WAGA-TV while in practice. He became a full-time medical correspondent in 1997 and served as senior medical editor and reporter at WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh. His career has been highlighted by a trip to Albania to cover medical and health aspects during the Kosovo war.


His live reports and taped segments won him accolades, and the one-hour, prime-time special he produced and co-anchored won a Golden Quill Award. In September 2001, Dr. Rosen was named senior medical correspondent at WCBS-TV in New York and regularly filed reports for CBS Newspath.


He has appeared on CBS' "The Early Show" and regularly appeared on the CBS overnight news show, "Up To The Minute." In 2004, Dr. Rosen launched a nationally syndicated medical news feed service, Daily HealthFeed (later known as Daily Health Updates).


The feed was seen in 51 markets, including on WPIX-TV (CW11) in New York. Dr. Rosen has also been the on-air medical correspondent on the CW11 News at Ten. He is a graduate of the Emory University School of Medicine.


Pedro "Joe" Greer Jr., MD

Pedro "Joe" Greer Jr., MD, is a physician, professor and author. Dr. Greer Jr.'s concern for those without access to health care has led him to create various free clinics for the homeless, undocumented, migrant and poor of Miami, including the Camillus Health Concern in 1984 and the Saint John Bosco clinic in 1991 where he continues to serve as medical director. Currently, Dr. Greer Jr. is Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs at the Florida International University School of Medicine.


He also enjoys a private gastroenterology practice at Mercy Hospital with his father, and has been a health advisor to both Clinton and Bush, Sr. Dr. Greer Jr. has written an autobiography entitled Waking up in America (Simon and Schuster) and has published over 25 articles and book chapters on topics ranging from digestive disorders to issues of policy and poverty in America.


He has been featured on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox Family Channel, PBS, the Travel Channel, HBO, and PBS/BBC, and has been a guest on various talk shows. He is the recipient of numerous honors including three Papal medals and being knighted as a Knight of Malta and the Order of Saint Gregory the Great.


His awards include the highly prestigious MacArthur "Genius" Fellowship, the Presidential Service Award, and the CBS/Newsweek Achievement Award. In 1994, he was named by Time magazine as one of America's 50 young American leaders under 40. In 2005, he was honored as the Health Care Hero of the Americas by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).


Dr. Greer Jr. currently serves as a Trustee of the RAND Corporation, a board member of the Mellon-United Bank of Florida, and Chairman of the Hispanic Heritage Awards Foundation, Comic Relief and other national organizations. He has served on the board of Dr. Pepper/7-UP, Physicians for Human Rights and The Cuban-American National Council.


Dr. Greer Jr. completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, his medical studies at Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic, and his postdoctoral studies at the University of Miami. He is currently a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology.


Robert M. Bernstein, MD, FAAD

Robert M. Bernstein, MD, FAAD, is Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University in New York. He is recognized world wide for his pioneering work in follicular unit hair transplantation and follicular unit extraction, and has been recognized for his outstanding achievements in scientific and clinical research in surgical hair restoration by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery.


Dr. Bernstein has been chosen as one of "America's Top Doctors" (Castle Connolly Medical), "The Best Doctors in New York" (New York Magazine) and "Best Beauty Docs in New York" (New York Magazine). Dr. Bernstein's contributions to the field of hair transplantation and devotion to patient care have also earned him the honor of "Pioneer of the Month" and "Surgeon of the Month" in Hair Transplant Forum International.


Dr. Bernstein has been featured on Good Morning America, The Today Show and The Discovery Channel. He has appeared on The Early Show, CBS News, Fox News, and National Public Radio, and in GQ Magazine, Men's Health and Vogue.


As the most widely published author on the subject of follicular unit transplantation and follicular unit extraction, with over fifty articles, editorial reviews, books and textbook chapters, Dr. Bernstein's landmark scientific papers are considered to be seminal works in the field of hair restoration surgery. He lectures both nationally and internationally on the treatment of hair loss and is active in clinical research and teaching.


Dr. Bernstein is Board Certified in Dermatology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He is certified by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and has served as an Examiner on this board and on the editorial board of Dermatologic Surgery.


He is a member of the American Academy of Aesthetic and Restorative Surgery, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Bernstein graduated with honors from Tulane University and earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.


He received his dermatologic training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Dr. Bernstein also holds an MBA from Columbia University.

He served 10 years as a senior executive with the $10 billion Daughters of Charity National Health System (now Ascension Health www.ascensionhealth.org ) the largest not-for-profit health system in the US.
